BSEL is undertaking an exciting project on behalf of the LSC to promote the inclusion of adults volunteering in the Voluntary (Third) Sector to gain a nationally recognised qualification.
The Government is anxious to expand this national training programme offering recognised qualifications into the Voluntary (Third) Sector.
BSEL believe that adult volunteers can gain real benefits for themselves and for their organisation by taking up this opportunity.
Who can take part in the scheme?
Any volunteers engaged in community projects, community organizations, and other volunteering schemes.
What are the benefits?
As the qualifications gained are nationally recognised, it would add to personal and career development for the individual. The units within the NVQ scheme can be achieved alongside any other training scheme being undertaken by the volunteer.
It may even be the start of something bigger!
What are the criteria for taking part?
- Be aged over 19 years.
- Have been resident in the UK/EU or EEA for at least 3 years.
The scheme is for those who have few or no previous qualifications. Entry criteria change from time to time, so those with higher qualifications should contact BSEL for further details about their eligibility. (Note: there is provision for higher qualified adults to gain a higher NVQ qualification).
How much will it cost?
There will be no cost! The scheme is funded by the Government.
Best of all - it's FREE!
Essentially, it is now possible for adult volunteers to use their voluntary activity, work and experience to gain NVQ Level 2 qualifications (or higher).
Quite simply, it's a matter of
you already do it...
...so NVQ it!
Which NVQ qualifications are available?
For volunteers in the community we are offering NVQs in: Customer Service; Activity Leadership; Team Leading; Management; Advice and Guidance; Business Administration; Learning and Development; and Community Development.
The achievement of NVQs is based around the work of the individual and what they do in their normal volunteering activities. Assessments will take place within the activities being undertaken by individuals.
BSEL has a long-standing and wide range of experience in similar Government funded projects and understands the features of the voluntary commitment and so is ideally placed to deliver this opportunity.
